Shail & Partners is a boutique law firm specialising in maritime and international trade law. Our practice may be grouped under 4 distinct heads:

Maritime Law & Carriage of Goods by Sea: We advise shipowners, charterers, traders, P&I Clubs, commodity houses, freight forwarders, and logistics operators on the full spectrum of contentious and advisory matters arising from global shipping operations. Our work spans voyage and time charter disputes, cargo loss and damage claims, collision and casualty matters, marine insurance, trade sanctions, and regulatory compliance.

International Trade Law: We advise an array of businesses on their general international trade needs including drafting of trade contracts, counsel on the international and transnational law of trade, customs advisory and compliance with global best practices.

Public International Law: Shail & Partners merits itself on being one of the few law practices in the region acting for clients on their public international law matters. Our expertise includes sovereign immunity, state responsibility, fisheries jurisdiction, claims arising out of the UNCLOS and related agreements, claims arising out of the GATT and other WTO treaties, to name a few.

Dispute Resolution: We have represented and acted for clients in international arbitrations seated in India, London, Singapore and several other jurisdictions. We are also regularly instructed on behalf of clients in arbitration related litigation and admiralty proceedings before Courts. Our dispute resolution practice spans all aspects of maritime, trade and public international law issues.
